How it works

Sorbact Superabsorbent is a bacteria and fungi binding wound dressing, based on Sorbact Technology. It consists of a Sorbact DACC™-coated wound contact layer combined with a superabsorbent core and water repellent backing, which prevents strike through. The product absorbs and retains high to excessive levels of exudate, thereby reducing the risk of maceration. Sorbact Superabsorbent prevents[1]View reference information and treats [2]View reference information wound infections and facilitates the wound healing process. Can be used in conjunction with compression therapy.

Intended purpose: Sorbact Superabsorbent is intended for use in management of clean, contaminated, colonized or infected high to excessive exuding wounds, such as traumatic wounds and surgical wounds. Sorbact Superabsorbent is intended to be used on superficial wounds.

The unique Sorbact surface binds bacteria from the wound, helping it to heal and preventing infection.

Instructions for use

How to apply Sorbact Superabsorbent

  1. Person opens the inner packaging of a Sorbact Superabsorbent dressing

    Clean the wound as instructed by your vet. Choose a suitable dressing size. Remove the dressing from the packaging without touching the green Sorbact surface. Any remaining opened and unused parts of the dressing should be discarded.

  2. Sorbact Superabsorbent dressing applied to a horse’s abdomen

    Apply the dressing. Ensure the green side of the dressing is in direct contact with the entire wound surface.

  3. Vetwrap bandage applied around a horse’s abdomen

    Redressing suggestions: Affix with a product such as Vetwrap.

The dressing change frequency depends on exudate levels and the overall condition of the wound and surrounding skin. Should the clinical condition allow, the dressing can be left in place for up to 7 days. For detailed product information, contraindications, precautions and warnings, please read the applicable Instructions for Use (IFU) prior to use.
