Instructions for use

How to apply Cutimed Siltec Sorbact B

  1. Person opens the inner packaging of a Cutimed Siltec Sorbact B dressing

Clean the wound as instructed by your vet. Choose a suitable dressing size. The dressing should overlap the edges of the wound by at least 1 cm. Remove the dressing from the packaging without touching the green Sorbact surface. Use sterile scissors if the dressing needs to be cut. Any remaining opened and unused parts of the dressing should be discarded.

  2. Cutimed Siltec Sorbact B dressing applied to a horse leg

Remove the protective film from the wound contact area. Affix the dressing. Do not stretch the dressing. Ensure the green side of the dressing is in direct contact with the entire wound surface. Press the edges lightly onto the surrounding skin. If necessary, the dressing can be adjusted and reapplied.

  3. Gauze is applied as the first fixation layer on the horse’s leg

Redressing suggestions: Re-affix with gauze, thin cotton, or Softban.

  4. Cotton is wrapped around the horse’s leg

    Place cotton around the leg.

  5. Gauze is wrapped over the cotton on the horse’s leg

Place gauze around the cotton, first loosely and then gradually tighter, to stabilize the bandage. Tie with a small knot on the front of the leg or side of the tibia to ensure there is no pressure on the tendons.

  6. Vetwrap is applied as the outer fixation layer on the horse’s leg

Vetwrap: Begin with the middle of the bandage, before moving downwards and then upwards. Not too tight; you should be able to insert your finger between the bandage and the leg once you have finished. Never bind Vetwrap directly onto the fur, as it could injure the leg.

The dressing change frequency depends on exudate levels and the overall condition of the wound and surrounding skin. Should the clinical condition allow, the dressing can be left in place for up to 7 days. For detailed product information, contraindications, precautions and warnings, please read the applicable Instructions for Use (IFU) prior to use.
